Ricky Jean Bryant
Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
|
Details of Disappearance
Ricky Jean Bryant , or Jeannie, was last seen during a fire in 1949 at a farm home three miles northeast of Mauston. She was last seen in the front yard while the fire was being put out. When the fire was extinguished, Ricky was no longer in the yard. She has not been seen or heard from since. Authorities said the 4-year-old girl perished in the fire, but no remains were ever found.
Strange events on that December day, which were later recalled by Jeannie's siblings, prompted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to open an investigation into her disappearance over fifty years later. Her siblings suspected the fire started as a diversion so someone could abduct Jeannie.
Both parents of the Bryant family are now deceased.
