Details of Disappearance
Alvin Edwin Matlock is a U.S. Army Veteran who went missing in the spring of 1951 from the Spokane, Washington area. Prior to his disappearance, Alvin Matlock was living on Brown’s Mountain in Spokane County, Washington.
Alvin Matlock was reported missing after he failed to show for a family celebration on Thanksgiving Day 1951. When he failed to show, his mother drove to his cabin on Browne Mountain and found the cabin empty and his vehicles gone. Alvin Matlock had apparently expressed an interest in moving to Alaska and the family was initially told that he had done so.
There were rumors going around town that Alvin Matlock was having an affair with a married woman and had got into a fight with her husband when they were discovered. The married woman supposedly shot Alvin Matlock during the fight. No body was ever recovered.
