This fossilized giant was discovered during mining activities in County Antrim, Ireland. In photo it is compared standing upright to a train at a London rail depot. It appeared in the December 1895 issue of Strand Magazine. The main measurements were as follows: total height 12 feet 2 inches, theoretic circumference 6 feet 6 inches, length of arms 4 feet 6 inches, weight 4,112 pounds. The right foot also had six toes. After being exhibited in Dublin, it was brought to England and displayed in Liverpool and Manchester at sixpence a head, attracting scientific men as well as gaping sightseers. After a legal dispute over ownership, nothing more appears to have been heard or seen of the exhibit.
