Ebola outbreak feared in Bahamas as nation put on ‘high alert’
There are fears the deadly Ebola virus could make its way to the Bahamas after officials put the country on high alert. It comes after the island nation’s health department issued a “high alert” for the virus’s potential arrival in the form of international visitors.
Spiritualism is a religious movement based on the belief that the spirits of the dead exist and have both the ability and the inclination to communicate with the living. The afterlife, or the "spirit world", is seen by spiritualists, not as a static place, but as one in which spirits continue to evolve.
Modern Spiritualism dates from 1848 when the Fox sisters of Hydesville New York produced knocking sounds that were alleged to be spirit messages from a spirit. Soon after John D. Fox, his wife, and six children moved into their new home they began to hear mysterious rapping noises

Animal/Cattle Mutilation In the mid-1970s, reports of scattered animal mutilations in western and mid-western states concerned many people. The FBI was asked to investigate, but was unable to do so because of a lack of jurisdiction (except when such mutilations were found on Indian lands). These files consist mainly of press clippings and correspondence concerning the issues between 1974 and 1978

Silas M. Newton
Silas Newton (1887-1972) was a wealthy oil producer and con-man who claimed that he had a gadget that could detect minerals and oil. He was cited as an authority in Frank Scully’s book Behind the Flying Saucers, a work that claimed to report on several UFO crashes in the area of New Mexico. In 1950, Newton said that a flying saucer crashed on land he leased in the Mojave Desert; however, he revised his claim in 1952, saying he never saw a flying saucer but had only repeated comments he heard from others. These files detail the FBI’s investigations into Newton’s fraudulent activities between 1951 and 1970.

Meyer Lansky (1902-1983) was involved in a wide-range of organized criminal activity and was associated with many other well known criminal figures from the 1920s to the 1970s. Lansky was especially active in gambling ventures, including the rise of Las Vegas and efforts to build casinos in Cuba before the communist revolution there. In 1972, he was indicted on charges that he and others had skimmed millions of dollars from a Vegas casino that they owned; the indictment on Lansky was later dismissed since he was considered too ill to face trial. The files in this release range from 1950 to 1978.

Alvin Francis “Creepy” Karpis, born as Karpowicz (1907-1979), was a notorious gangster of the 1930s. He committed many of his crimes with a gang of criminals, including several Barker brothers; “Doc” and Fred Barker were two of the most active members. Their mother Kate “Ma” Barker was also involved, though not as the criminal mastermind later media legend made her out to be. The Barker/Karpis gang was responsible for two of the era’s most notorious kidnappings—the abduction of William Hamm in 1933 and Edward Bremer, Jr., in 1934. This release consists of the extensive Bureau file on the Barker/Karpis gang. The bulk of it covers from 1933 to 1936, but it extends well into the 1970s because Karpis lived to late in the decade.

Spooky new holiday tour takes you in search of ghosts and UFOs across the USA
Airbnb has launched a brand new Paranormal tour of the U.S. Southwest where the itinerary is filled with ghost towns, alien sites, UFO spotting hubs and haunted hotels.
That includes stays in the Haunted Overland Hotel in Pioche where guests have reported ghoulish visitors, and the quirky Little A'Le'Inn along Nevada's Extraterrestrial Highway.
Basically, it's not one for those who get easily spooked out.
What's pretty cool is that no two tours will be the same, as host Nathan tailors the spots you visit based on your group's interest, be that ghosts and haunted sites or aliens and the best places for UFO searches.
However the main itinerary itself is the same as you travel from southern Utah through to Nevada, with visits to some of the area's famously spooky spots.

A Maryland Tall Tale
S. E. Schlosser
There is an old tale which claims that at midnight, on Christmas Eve, the cattle will kneel in the barn and speak with one another. Once an old Maryland man decided to test the tale by hiding in the barn at midnight to listen. So he climbed a rope to the window in the hayloft. He lay down on the rough gray boards, covered himself with hay and waited.
Around midnight, he saw all the cows in the barn kneel. At first he could not make out any words, but then, he heard the cow underneath his hiding place say to its neighbor: "I am afraid our poor old master will not live out the year."
"Oh dear," exclaimed her neighbor. "What a pity."
The old man was so frightened by the cow's words that he hurried over to the window, wanting to get away from the barn as fast as he could. But his sweating fingers slipped on the rope and he fell to the ground, broke his neck, and died.
Since then, the people in Maryland have never eavesdropped on the cattle at midnight on Christmas Eve.
